'Rally Together’ a Project that is focused on delivering inclusive Table Tennis Experiences through Strategic Partnerships
Project period: April 2026 to April 2028
“Rally Together” is a disability inclusion initiative aimed at increasing participation, accessibility, and engagement in table tennis for people with disabilities across New Zealand. The project focuses on creating inclusive environments, building capability within clubs and coaches, and developing sustainable participation pathways from grassroots through to performance.
Strategic Intent:
Table Tennis NZ and its Regional Table Tennis Associations will have strengthened capability, confidence and systems to deliver inclusive table tennis activities. Inclusive practices will be embedded across TTNZ’s planning education pathways and organisational culture.
Disabled rangatahi and tamariki, particularly those with invisible and intellectual impairments will have regular access to welcoming, high-quality table tennis opportunities in their local communities.
Experiences will be community-based, consistently delivered and co-designed with partners to ensure they are inclusive, meaningful and responsive moving away from ad-hoc one-off initiatives toward ongoing participation pathways.
Position Overview:
To develop a project plan in collaboration with the TTNZ Development Manager and other key partners that will meet the strategic intent of the project.
The Project Coordinator will lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the initiative, working closely with stakeholders including clubs, associations, disability organisations, and community groups. Key priorities include delivering inclusive programmes, supporting workforce development, improving access to facilities and equipment, and raising awareness of inclusive opportunities within the sport.
The role will ensure the project aligns with TTNZ’s strategic goals and Player Pathways, while driving meaningful participation outcomes and long-term impact for disabled participants in table tennis.
Key Deliverables:
Formalise a Strategic Partnership with Special Olympics NZ (SONZ) A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be developed between TTNZ and SONZ, outlining shared goals, support mechanisms, and joint delivery pathways for tamariki and rangatahi with intellectual disabilities.
Regional Connection Building Facilitate introductions and collaborations between Regional Table Tennis Associations (RTA's), Special Olympics clubs and local Disability Sports Organisations (DSO’s), and Regional School Sports Organisations (RSSO’s) across the country. This will include shared training opportunities, inclusive event planning, and co-hosted community engagement sessions.
Capability Building for Associations and Clubs Develop and deliver training modules for RTA’s and clubs focusing on inclusive coaching practices to create welcoming environments for tamariki and rangatahi with invisible and intellectual impairments. All “partners” will be included in the education and co-design process.
Sustainability and Embedding Practice Inclusive practice will be written into TTNZ’s strategic and operational plans. TTNZ will explore co-investment and ongoing funding with regional partners, including Local Councils and Regional Sports Trusts.
School-to-Community Pathways Work with selected schools (including special schools and satellite units) to deliver introductory sessions and then connect students to their local Associations and weekly club opportunities.
Establish Inclusive Participation Hubs Pilot 3–5 regional "Inclusive Table Tennis Hubs" that offer weekly community sessions (e.g., family-friendly clubs) where disabled young people can participate alongside peers and whānau in a relaxed, safe environment.
Engagement/Remuneration:
The Project Coordinator will be engaged on a part-time basis for sixteen (16) hours per week for the duration of the project. The role will be remunerated on discussion with successful applicant.
In addition, reasonable and pre-approved expenses incurred in the delivery of the project will be reimbursed. This includes travel, accommodation, and a per diem for attendance at approved project activities, in accordance with TTNZ policies.
Communication and Collaboration:
The Project Coordinator will communicate professionally, promptly, and constructively with TTNZ and all relevant stakeholders, with the TTNZ Development Manager as the primary point of contact. The role requires effective collaboration with Regional Table Tennis Associations, coaches, officials, and partner organisations, as directed by the TTNZ Development Manager.
The Project Coordinator is responsible for meeting all required deadlines and ensuring timely communication with TTNZ, as well as external stakeholders including “all partners”.

Strong organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to multi-task.
