Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Table Tennis NZ recognises Te Tiriti o Waitangi as Aotearoa New Zealand’s founding document and is committed to upholding the mana of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the principles of Partnership, Protection and Participation.

Policy 21: Anti-Doping

Doping through performance enhancing drug consumption is cheating for individual gain. Table Tennis NZ knows everyone involved in the sport is here because of a shared passion for the sport and care for the people involved. We all want to be fair, impartial, responsible, and trustworthy in all our actions for the sport. We need to protect and uphold the integrity of the sport and those who work and play within it, against the risks that arise from doping in sport. Performance enhancing drug-taking has no place in our sport.

The Sport Integrity Commission

In New Zealand, the Sport Integrity Commission is responsible for the work previously undertaken by Drug Free Sport NZ, including publishing the Sport Anti-doping Rules (SADR) each year. The SADR gives effect to the World Anti-Doping Code in New Zealand.

SADR and Table Tennis NZ

Table Tennis NZ adopts the SADR and any current amendments as its Anti-Doping Policy annually within the Table Tennis NZ Constitution. This code then applies to all participants in Member Associations and in their affiliated clubs.

In adopting the SADR, Table Tennis NZ commits to promote and manage compliance with the SADR made by Sport Integrity Commission.

Table Tennis NZ agrees to be bound by the SADR and any amendments to or replacements of those Rules. All organisations affiliated to Table Tennis NZ and their members are expected to agree to be bound by the SADR through their membership of Table Tennis NZ and are expected to reflect this in their own constitution.
