14 New Zealand Coaches Completed ITTF Level 2 Coaching Course
Table Tennis New Zealand (TTNZ) is pleased to recognise 14 coaches who have successfully completed the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Level 2 Coaching Course, delivered from 13 to 18 March 2026 under the guidance of ITTF Course Conductor Christina Chee from Malaysia.

The ITTF Level 2 course focused on developing advanced coaching skills, including technical and tactical training, physical and mental preparation, and long term player development, supported by both theory and practical learning.
The course brought together coaches from across the country, including Otago, Canterbury, Waikato, Auckland, North Shore and Northland. Their commitment reflected the continued growth and strengthening of coaching in New Zealand.
Coaches who completed the course:
| Albert Cheng | Aarya Advilkar |
| Ben Duffy | Helen Beumelburg |
| Hyo Joo Lee | Jaafar Moussa |
| Josh Alexandre | Kim Wang |
| Liting Guo | Mark Page |
| Ricky Kumar | John Cordue |
| Shane Laugesen | Naina Suri |

Reflecting on the experience, Coach Hyo Joo Lee shared:
“The course provided valuable insights into structuring training sessions and adapting coaching approaches for different players. A key takeaway for me was the mental aspect of performance, especially in preparing players to perform under pressure.”
Otago Coach Ben Duffy also highlighted the impact of the course:
“Completing the course means new opportunities, new skills and renewed motivation to add value to our players.
It is important to self reflect and challenge your thinking.
I am already introducing many things I learned and adapting my style to focus more on explaining the technical aspects of the game.”

ITTF Course Conductor Christina Chee reflected on both the programme and the wider impact on coaching in New Zealand:
“This was my third time conducting the ITTF Level 2 course in Auckland, and courses like this play an important role in upskilling coaches nationwide. As a valuable pathway for those aiming to progress, the ITTF Level 2 course supports the development of both theoretical and practical knowledge, helping coaches take the next step in their coaching.
The dedication and commitment shown by New Zealand coaches not only enhance technical skills and athlete development, but also create a positive learning environment where knowledge is shared to improve overall performance.”
Over the coming months, these coaches will continue their development as they apply their new knowledge in their local programmes and complete their certification journey.
TTNZ also extends its thanks to Olympic Solidarity for their funding support, which made this course possible. Special thanks to ITTF and ITTF-Oceania for their support.
This achievement marks an important step forward in strengthening the coaching pathway and supporting the growth of table tennis across New Zealand.
