August Xiao produced one of New Zealand's standout performances of the championships, progressing through to the Men's Singles semifinals and securing a bronze medal. His podium finish marks New Zealand's first Men's Singles medal at the Oceania Senior Championships in more than a decade.

Following the event, Xiao reflected on his achievement:

"It was a good experience and a tough match against Aditya Sareen from Australia. I want to do better next year."

August will have little time to celebrate, with the ITTF-Oceania Youth Championships beginning in Ballarat on 1 September. He will be joined by New Zealand's next generation of talent as Team NZ continues its Oceania campaign across the youth events.
