With the 2026 AIMS Games fast approaching on 11 September, more young athletes with disabilities than ever before will have the opportunity to experience the excitement of competition, friendship, and achievement through adapted sport.

New Zealand's top table tennis players and emerging stars delivered an exciting weekend of competition at TOPX̄ 2026, held at Rosehill College in Auckland on 4 and 5 July.

This year’s event attracted 146 entries, up from 126 in 2024. Around 50 players were from Otago, showing strong local participation and continued growth in the region.

A special story from this year’s event is the Fogarty family. Yvonne Fogarty from Otago, Kevin Fogarty from Auckland, and Catherine Fogarty from Canterbury share a lifelong connection through table tennis.

It was inspiring to see many first-time participants stepping onto the national stage, gaining valuable experience and proudly representing their region
