Course Overview
The ITTF Level 2 Coaching Course is designed to deepen the knowledge and skills of table tennis coaches who have already completed Level 1 certification. This course focuses on advanced technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of the game, aiming to prepare coaches to work with competitive players at a higher level. The course combines theory with practical sessions and culminates in assessments, preparing coaches to guide athletes toward higher performance levels with structured, evidence-based approaches.
- Recommended for: Association, regional and national level coaches.
- Pre-requisite: Coaches must have held ITTF PTT L1 certification for at least 12-months and be actively coaching.
- Content covered is suited for player levels: Regional, national and international level.
- Resource provided: Advanced Coaching Manual (digital).
Course Includes
- 6 days of practical and theory based coach education sessions delivered by ITTF expert course conductor.
- Daily lunch for all participants.
Key Learnings
- Advanced Technique Development: Refinement of strokes, footwork, and service/receive mechanics with a focus on precision and adaptability.
- Tactical Understanding: Strategies for singles and doubles play, including in-match decision-making and opponent analysis.
- Physical Preparation: Strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination training tailored to table tennis performance.
- Psychological Skills: Mental toughness, focus, motivation, and dealing with competition pressure.
- Planning & Periodisation: Designing long-term training programs and competition calendars for athlete development.
- Video Analysis: Using technology to assess and improve player performance.
Logistics
- Accommodation: TTNZ will arrange and cover accommodation for participants residing outside the Auckland region. Accommodation will be provided on a twin-share basis.
- Travel (Inter-city): TTNZ will liaise directly with coaches travelling from outside the wider Auckland area to arrange inter-city travel. Please do not make any travel arrangements or bookings until your place on the course and travel requirements have been confirmed by TTNZ.
- TTNZ may offer travel subsidy allowances for participants who reside outside the wider Auckland region and are actively engaged with their local association, or regional or national squads. Subsidies are offered at TTNZ’s sole discretion. Confirmation and the value of any subsidy will be provided in writing at the close of registrations.
- Daily Travel: Coaches are responsible for arranging and covering the cost of their own daily travel.
Accredation Requirements
- Attend 100% of the course and engage in all course activities.
- Pass the practical coaching presentation and oral exam during the course.
- Complete the 50h post-course practical coaching requirements with suitable level of players; 45h group coaching, 5h coaching under ITTF appointed supervision to a satisfactory level.
- Have a current NZ police vetting clearance. TTNZ will provide police vetting service for all participants. This is a compulsory aspect of coach certification in NZ.
- Certification will be issued upon completion of all accreditation requirements, and the coach will appear on the ITTF certified coaching database.

Course Fees: $250 per participant
