2026 ITTF-Oceania Cup Selection Criteria

Selection Criteria: 2026 ITTF-Oceania Cup
Where: Christchurch, New Zealand

The players who will represent New Zealand (NZ) at the 2026 ITTF-Oceania Cup will be selected based on the below criteria. 


Criteria:
• Only players eligible to represent New Zealand in all ITTF sanctioned events, including the ITTF-Oceania Cup and the respective Men’s and Women’s World Cups will be considered for selection. 


Eligibility is defined as: A player who meets all ITTF requirements ITTF 2024 Statutes; A NZ citizen who holds a NZ passport and has served any stand-down period as per ITTF regulations. 
• No player who is Under 15 years of age in 2026, will be considered for selection.
• Any player that confirms their availability to compete at the ITTF-Oceania Cup, MUST also be available to compete on a user-pays basis at the ITTF World Cup(s) 30th March - 5th April 2026, location TBC, should they qualify for that event through the ITTF-Oceania Cup. 


The total number of male and female athletes selected to compete at this event, will be based on the number of quota spots allocated to NZ from ITTF-Oceania as per the event regulations.

At the time of criteria publication, the NZ quota spots are undetermined. The date of offer of spots is 3-months prior to the event; it is probable based on current World rankings that NZ will be 2 male and 2 female spots.


One player of each gender selected will be: 
The highest World Ranked NZ eligible player as at Week 45, 2025 of the ITTF World Ranking lists.
▪ If the highest World Ranked NZ eligible player is unavailable, this selection place will then go to the next highest World Ranked NZ eligible player. 
▪ If in the case, there are no (or no remaining) NZ eligible World Ranked players on the World ranking list, the place will be forfeited for selection as per the selection process for players from the TTNZ Open Merit lists.


One player (or more if NZ is allocated additional quota places from ITTF-Oceania) of each gender selected will be: 
The highest ranked eligible player from the 2025 November TTNZ Open Merit lists for the respective gender. 
▪ If a player is unavailable, the next highest ranked eligible and available player on the Merit list will be selected. 


A player must be prepared to meet all/any costs as this event is ‘self-funded’.


All players selected MUST:
o Confirm their availability and selection in writing within the stated timeframes of confirmation. 
o Sign a TTNZ Player Agreement and abide by its terms and conditions, at all times.
o Make themselves available for all team activities designated by TTNZ
