TTNZ National Para Squads 2026 Selection Criteria
Table Tennis New Zealand will have National Para Squads in 2026.
To be considered for selection in a National Para Squad:

Players must be eligible to represent NZ in all ITTF events.

Eligibility is defined as: A player who meets all ITTF requirements; a NZ citizen who holds a NZ passport and has served any stand-down period as per ITTF regulations.

NZ-based players MUST participate/compete in:

The 2025 NZ Para Open Championships AND
-
In total play at least four tournaments*: Association Opens, Para Teams Challenge and/or National-level Para tournaments in 2025.

Overseas-based players MUST:

Be registered with TTNZ as a recognised Overseas Player

Have international results for selectors to consider

Play in the 2025 NZ Para Open Championships

Players must be:

Maintaining regular training under an accredited coach (minimum of 2 sessions per week)

Demonstrating a clear commitment to growth, including technical, tactical, physical and psychological as demonstrated through their personal development plan (IPP).

Players must have National or International Classification status recognised by TTNZ and/or ITTF.

Athletes with intellectual impairments (II1-3) who are yet to obtain international classification may be granted exemption, provided they have a plan with TTNZ to seek international classification as the earliest opportunity, e.g., through Virtus.

The exact number of National Para Squads and number of players in each squad will be at TTNZ’s discretion.
