What it means for an Association to be Affiliated with TTNZ

Table Tennis New Zealand (TTNZ) is the national governing body for table tennis in New Zealand. We support and develop the sport across the country, ensuring that players, coaches, and member associations have access to the best opportunities and resources.

By affiliating with TTNZ, member associations receive a wide range of benefits that help strengthen their local clubs and contribute to the overall development of table tennis in New Zealand. These benefits include governance support, coaching and player development pathways, event management tools, and increased visibility within the national sporting community.

TTNZ provides our Affiliated Associations:

  • National impact – Being part of TTNZ allows member associations to contribute to the national growth of table tennis. Affiliated associations play an important role in shaping the future of the sport by contributing to national strategies and development initiatives.

  • Governance support – Strong governance is essential for securing funding, attracting sponsors, and maintaining a professional and sustainable organisation. TTNZ offers guidance to help member associations operate efficiently and align with Sport New Zealand’s best practices. This support helps associations build strong leadership structures, manage their associations efficiently, and ensure they are meeting national sporting regulations.

  • Tournament software – Access to Tournament Planning software for easy registration, payments, draws, and scheduling of tournaments.

  • Increased visibility – Affiliated associations get more exposure through TTNZ’s marketing and social media channels, raising the profile of the member association and their local clubs and attracting new members and sponsors.

  • Advocacy for the sport – TTNZ advocates for table tennis at the national and international levels, ensuring that the sport gains recognition and support from key stakeholders, including government bodies and the international governing body. This advocacy helps create more opportunities for table tennis players, coaches and officials and helps member associations to thrive.

  • Pathways for player development – TTNZ provides clear pathways for players to progress from foundation, social, competitive to performance level, with opportunities to compete at national and international events. Member associations can support players on their journey from local club play to top-level competitions, helping them develop their skills and gain valuable experience.

  • Pathways for coach development-TTNZ provides coaching development pathways for all levels. These include the TT Kidz Activators Course for beginners, Club Coach Certification and for more advanced training internationally recognised ITTF Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Courses for those supporting competitive and performance athletes.

  • Eligibility to compete in TTNZ Tournaments - Players must be members of an association affiliated with TTNZ to participate in TTNZ-sanctioned tournaments. Affiliation grants access to regional, national, and international qualifying events, providing players with valuable competitive experience, opportunities to earn national rankings, and a pathway to represent New Zealand in international table tennis championships.

  • Networking and collaboration – Being affiliated with TTNZ connects member associations to other associations, clubs, coaches, and officials, encouraging collaboration and knowledge-sharing to strengthen the sport in New Zealand.

  • TT Kidz Programme – A fun, engaging national programme that introduces young players to table tennis, helping member associations attract new players and encouraging long-term growth in local associations and clubs.

By working together, we can continue to build a strong and welcoming table tennis community in New Zealand.
