Purpose 

The National Para Development Training Camp is a unique, high-impact opportunity designed to unite disabled athletes from every stage of the pathway; grassroots, development, and high performance under one roof. Across an energising multi-day programme, athletes will showcase their abilities, elevate their skills, and receive direct guidance from our national Para coaches, ensuring every participant is seen, supported, and challenged.

This fully inclusive camp caters to all 11 Para classes*, with tailored training that matches each athlete’s skill level, playing style, and disability. The programme is crafted to inspire growth, build confidence, and push boundaries creating an environment where athletes can unlock their potential and take clear steps forward in their sporting journey.

This isn’t just a camp, it’s your launchpad. A powerful opportunity to fast-track development, drive ambition, and build the foundations for long-term success on and off the table.

Note: *Para Classes: 1-5 = wheelchair, 6-10 = standing, 11= a player with intellectual impairment (II1, II2, II3)

What the Para Teams Challenge and Development Camp Includes: 
  •  Para Teams Challenge (1.5 days), provides athletes with valuable match play and the opportunity to apply their skills in a competitive setting.
  • Para Dvelopment Training Camp - 3.5 days of high-quality, progressive training delivered by TTNZ-appointed National Para Coaches.
  • Access to expert support, including coach feedback, skill analysis, and tailored development plans to help athletes understand their next steps.
  • Connection and community, with opportunities to form friendships, train with peers from across New Zealand, and feel part of a united Para table tennis whānau.
  • Insight into the national player pathway, helping Para athletes understand future opportunities such as progression to national or international levels.
  • A fun, inclusive, and motivating camp environment that empowers Para athletes to challenge themselves, grow, and build lasting confidence.
  • A memorable camp experience, blending training with fun, achievement, and personal growth.
  • Engaging learning sessions on mental skills, tactical awareness, technical excellence, and conditioning to build well-rounded, confident competitors.
Eligibility to enter

a. Classification Requirements: Open to all athletes with disabilities, classified (Classes 1–11) or unclassified.

b. TTNZ Affiliation: Players must be a member of an association affiliated with Table Tennis New Zealand (TTNZ).

c. International Participation: International entries may be accepted at the discretion of TTNZ. International players must be members of their respective national table tennis federation, which must be affiliated with the ITTF.

Entry Fees per player: 
  • Training Camp + Teams Challenge (5-days) $175 

Entry fees must be paid at time of entry.

Conditions of entry
  1. Full Participation Required:
    All players must attend the full five-day programme. Partial participation is not permitted. The full schedule will be provided to all participants following the close of entries.
  2. Withdrawal and Refund Policy:
    Any withdrawals on or after Sunday, 14th January 2026 will not be eligible for a refund of entry fees.
  3. Eligibility Compliance:
    Players must meet all eligibility criteria outlined by TTNZ to participate.
  4. Behaviour and Conduct:
    All participants are expected to comply with TTNZ’s Code of Conduct and policies. Any inappropriate behaviour may result in removal from the programme without refund.
  5. Health and Safety:
    Players with medical conditions or special requirements must notify TTNZ prior to the event. TTNZ reserves the right to make decisions regarding participation based on health and safety considerations.​​
  6. Teams Challenge:  
    The challenge will be conducted in accordance with the current ITTF Laws and Regulations of Table Tennis, under a format chosen by Table Tennis New Zealand.
Format of Play for the Teams Challenge
  • Players enter as individuals and will be placed in 2 (or 3) player teams, using a snake system. If numbers permit events may also be split into grades based on player rankings. Teams will then play contests against other teams as per the match order and format below.
  • Team Match Order: Each team contest will comprise of singles and doubles matches. 
  • All matches are best of 3 or 5 games, with each game played to 11 points.
  • The format ensures all players participate, encourages strategic pairings, and maintains a competitive and fair structure.

  • Referees: To be appointed by TTNZ
  • Competition Manager: To be appointed by TTNZ
  • Umpires: Players will be required to umpire matches in their round robins and knockouts. The organisers will advise players of their umpiring requirements for the knockout phases of play.​​​

Medals & Prizes

Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each Teams Challenge event.

  • Clothing: No singlets or white clothing is to be worn. Athletes may wear any other clothing that complies with ITTF Regulations.
Racket Control

All rackets must comply with ITTF Regulations.

Photography & Personal data

By participating in the 2026 Para Teams Challenge and Developing Camp, participants and their parents consent to TTNZ using their or their child’s photographs and images for promotional and publicity purposes.
