Women & Girls Have-A-Go Day welcomes females who are new to table tennis or returning after a break, providing a relaxed, friendly environment to enjoy the sport and meet others.
Whether you’ve never picked up a bat or haven’t played in years, or are simply keen to give the sport a go, this is your chance to enjoy table tennis, get active, and be part of a supportive community.
Sessions focus on fun and connection, with activities suitable for all ages and abilities. An optional fun team challenge is available for those who would like a little extra challenge after the Have-A-Go session.

Event Format
Have-A-Go Session
Open to all ages and abilities, focusing on skill development, confidence building, and enjoyment of the sport in a supportive environment.
Sessions are adapted to suit different skills and abilities.
Teams Challenge
In some locations, a Teams Challenge may also be offered as part of the event. The Teams Challenge provides a light-hearted competitive opportunity for anyone who would like to take part in matches following the Have-A-Go session.
Teams typically consist of two players and may compete across categories such as Social Grade, Over 40, Junior (Under 16), or Open.
Enter with a partner or we will match you with another player suited to your skill level on the day, we want everyone to have fun and enjoy the experience.

It is easy to start
You do not need experience, fitness, or special skills.
Our local coaching team will teach you the basics so you can learn as you play and enjoy it from the very first session.

It is fun without the pressure
Play at your own pace with no expectation to compete. You will pick up new skills while having fun.
You can rally, laugh, and enjoy the game without worrying about scores.

Welcoming Environment
This is a relaxed and welcoming space where you can come on your own or bring your daughter, mum or grandmother for a fun multi-generational activity, or come with friends and try something new together.

Table tennis is a fun way to move your body, improve coordination, and clear your mind without it feeling like a workout. You can stay active while enjoying yourself and having a laugh with others.
The Women & Girls Tournament held on International Women's Day is part of TTNZ's long term vision to:
- increase the visibility of women and girls in table tennis
- build more inclusive club cultures
- grow a strong, sustainable female player base
By empowering associations to lead locally, TTNZ is building a nationwide movement that will support long-term growth in female participation and strengthen local club communities.

Women & Girls Have-A-Go sessions are being delivered at table tennis venues across New Zealand by local associations, as listed below. Every location will offer a relaxed Have-A-Go session, with some also running an optional Teams Challenge for those who’d like a bit more of a competitive play. Sessions are welcoming, inclusive, and suitable for all ages and abilities and no experience is needed.
